BREAKING: Kansas City Chiefs $71 million superstar tipped to quit in shock trade for bitter NFL rivals

THE Kansas City Chiefs have a chance of losing arguably their best offensive lineman after the season.

Andy Reid and the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed a 6-0 start so far.

Kansas City boasts one of the best offensive lines in football.

The Chiefs rely on its interior which consists of the two-time Pro Bowl guard Joe Thuney, the league’s highest-paid center in Creed Humphrey, and Trey Smith who has started all but one game in his four-year NFL tenure.

However, Kansas City could lose Smith in the upcoming free agency cycle.

Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department shared the prediction that the Arizona Cardinals can sign the 25-year-old Smith.

The authors made the argument that the Cardinals will lose multiple offensive linemen after the season and “are currently projected to have nearly $120 million of cap space available, per Over The Cap,” in 2025.

“Smith will be just 26 years old in June and has been excellent in Kansas City, earning grades in the 70s from Pro Football Focus in each of his first three seasons,” Bleacher Report continued.

“So far in 2024, he’s posted a mark of 82.7 overall while logging an 84.5 run-blocking grade and giving up just 10 pressures in five games.”

The 6-foot-6, 321-pound Smith has been playing under his rookie contract.

Spotrac projects him to receive a four-year, $72 million contract.

Money will most definitely play a part in where Smith will end up after the season.

Still, Smith recently appeared on a podcast and touched on the Chiefs’ culture under Reid.

“Our team culture is so unique, Coach Reid; every time we break it down Saturday before our games in the hotel, he always says, ‘Hey, don’t forget, let your personalities show.’ They let us be ourselves in that building,” said Smith on the Everything Orange podcast.

“I think that’s so important. We’re having fun out there. Obviously, we’re grown men who are trying to get a job done.

“But at the end of the day, we know we’re having fun beating up people.

“We’re going to have fun doing it every single time. It’s really special.”

Mahomes will hope the Chiefs retain Smith.

He has been sacked just 11 times in seven games this year.

The Chiefs will hope to stay undefeated when they face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8.
