On Thursday, the Chiefs announced that they placed wide receiver Skyy Moore on injured reserve due to a core muscle injury.
As a result, Moore will have to miss at least four games and can return at the earliest for Kansas City’s November 24 game against the Carolina Panthers.
The Chiefs are currently preparing to face the division rival Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
The injury came after the Chiefs acquired Pro Bowl wideout DeAndre Hopkins in a trade with the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday in exchange for a conditional 2025 fifth-round pick.
The conditional pick can turn into a fourth-round pick if Kansas City reaches the Super Bowl and Hopkins plays 60 percent of the team’s offensive snaps, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Moore was a second-round pick in 2022 and has been a non-factor in the team’s offense this season.
He doesn’t have a catch on three targets, playing 82 offensive snaps.
Moore’s lack of production has occurred even with the Chiefs suffering injuries at the wide receiver position.
Hollywood Brown is expected to be out for the season after suffering a sternoclavicular injury during the preseason and Rashee Rice is out for the season with a knee injury.
JuJu Smith-Shuster also missed most of Sunday’s against the San Francisco 49ers due to a hamstring injury and is expected to be out this weekend.
With Moore on IR, Mahomes will have to trust Hopkins, first-round pick Xavier Worthy, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Watson at wide receiver, as well as tight ends Travis Kelce and Noah Gray.
Kanas City can also look to running back Kareem Hunt for support on offense.
Moore caught 22 passes for 250 yards as a rookie.
He put up similar numbers last year, recording 21 receptions for 244 yards and one touchdown.
The Chiefs can progress to 7-0 if they secure a win over the Raiders.

They will likely elevate at least one of their four wide receivers currently on the team’s practice squad, Justyn Ross, Nikko Remigio, Montrell Washington, and Cornell Powell, ahead of their road game.
Kansas City can utilize the three-time First-Team All-Pro Hopkins if he plays.
Hopkins has 15 receptions for 173 yards for a Titans team that won just one game and has a disappointing quarterback situation.
