The Chiefs did make two trades last month – with one of them already showing returns

Kansas City defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in overtime on Monday Night Football in Week 9.

Before the game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Chiefs were interested in trading for New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

However, the Chiefs weren’t interested in getting into a bidding water to receive Lattimore.

The Saints traded Lattimore and a fifth-round pick to the Washington Commanders in exchange for a third-, a fourth-, and a sixth-round pick.

Lattimore comes with health concerns as he missed New Orleans’ Week 9 loss to the Carolina Panthers because of a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old had missed the team’s Week 2 game and had dealt with a hip issue during training camp.

Still, Lattimore has played at a high level when he’s played on the field.

In seven games, he has allowed a 69.1 rating to opposing quarterbacks, per Pro Football Focus.

He has recorded 30 total tackles and two pass deflections.

Lattimore was drafted in the same 2017 draft class as Patrick Mahomes.

The Saints drafted Lattimore with the No. 11 pick after the Chiefs traded up to the No. 10 pick to select Mahomes.

Lattimore has earned four Pro Bowl selections while Mahomes has one MVP award and three Super Bowl MVPs.

The Chiefs have an 8-0 and can pin most of their success to their defense.

However, Steve Spagnuolo’s defense could’ve used an outside cornerback as the team lost defensive back Jaylen Watson for the rest of the campaign due to a fractured ankle.

The Chiefs started cornerback Joshua Williams, who made his first start of the year.

He allowed just two receptions for 18 yards, per PFF.

“2 (Joshua Williams) showed up today,” Reid said about Williams’ efforts.

“(He) had a big challenge, stepping in and being a starter, and I thought he did a nice job for us.”

While the Chiefs weren’t active on Tuesday, they still were able to pull off two trades last month, acquiring DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennesee Titans and defensive end Josh Uche from the New England Patriots.
