A comment about Justin Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette, holding herself “accountable” for his career path resurfaced after Diddy’s arrest. Him and Justin were friends
Justin Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette, once opened up about her son’s career.
In her book, Nowhere but Up: The Story of Justin Bieber’s Mom, she opened up about her life as a single mother. She had Justin at 18 years old on March 1, 1994. Before becoming a mother, Pattie was suicidal and was raped in her teen years. She started attending Alcoholics Anonymous at the age of 16 and even moved out of her parents home.
Pattie was on “mother’s allowance, the Canadian equivalent of welfare” until she could support both herself and Justin full-time. She got into the early stages of Justin’s career and how it started with posting videos of him singing on YouTube.
Pattie believed in Justin and was excited for his new future. She knew that he was talented and wanted to be a singer but just “didn’t know what to expect.”
When she was signing documents for his future, she was “afraid” that her decision could bring Justin to the wrong path of “unhealthy, long-term relationships.” This comes after Diddy was arrested and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has denied all allegations, pleaded not guilty and is currently awaiting trial on May 5, 2025. He is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center located in Brooklyn, New York.
Justin and Diddy were good friends. Over the years, the two have been seen partying together, collaborated in music and more. Pictures of videos of the resurfaced after Diddy’s arrest, questioning Justin’s safety when he was only 15 years old.
Pattie wrote: “Things were happening so big and so fast with Justin. I was responsible for signing contracts that could affect a large portion of Justin’s life. Pages and pages of legal jargon were being presented to me each day and even though I had an attorney who helped me walk through each paragraph, it was still a daunting task.”
She continued: “At the end of the day, I was Justin’s mother. I was accountable for any documents for any documents I signed, or any deal I authorized… I was afraid of making a mistake. What if I signed something that steered Justin in the wrong direction, or put him in the path of unhealthy, long-term relationships? But I couldn’t allow those questions and fears to complicate things. God wouldn’t have put me in this situation to fail. I began to follow my instincts. I’m sure I made mistakes along the way, but what parent doesn’t?”
In the 10-part YouTube docuseries, Justin Bieber: Seasons, the Love Yourself singer gave fans an inside look into the making of his album Changes, his love life with Hailey and opened up about his dark path. On the episode “The Dark Season,” Justin revealed that he started smoking weed at around 12 to 13 years old, sipped on lean, did shrooms and popped pills. It got to the point where the pop star would wake up in the morning “popping pills and smoking a blunt” and things got “scary.” His security team even had to check in on him at night to check his pulse.
