(VTC News) –The sudden passing of actor Song Jae Rim at the age of 39 left colleagues and audiences in shock; “National sister” IU filed a lawsuit against 180 people.

Song Jae Rim’s suicide note found 

Star News Korea reported that police found a two-page A4 suicide note from actor Song Jae Rim. The contents of the note have not been revealed. The Seongdong Police Station in Seoul told Newsis that they have not found any signs of murder.

“So far, no criminal charges such as murder have been confirmed,” a police official said.

The person who discovered Song Jae Rim was a friend who had previously made a lunch appointment with him. When he did not show up for the appointment, the friend went to his house and found the actor dead, so he immediately called the police.

The actor’s sudden passing left colleagues and audiences in shock. His former company said they were unaware of his situation after his contract ended last year and were also shocked by the news.

The actor’s funeral will be held at Yeouido St. Mary’s Funeral Home at 12:00 on November 14.

Actor Song Jae Rim was born in 1985 and is a famous Korean actor and model. He started his career as a model and appeared in many Korean fashion magazines before becoming an actor in 2009.

In 2012, he played the role of Kim Je Woon in the work  Moon Embracing the Sun  and became famous. At that time, he was one of the talented young actors who were promising for the Hallyu wave.

Later, Jae Rim appeared in other films such as Goodbye Mr. Black, Unkind Ladies,… Possessing a handsome and sweet appearance, Song Jae Rim has been “stuck” with secondary roles for many years. 

The actor attracted attention after participating in the show  We Got Married  with “porridge girl” Kim So Eun. The two were rumored to be dating, but Kim So Eun’s side denied this. 

The actor was rumored to be dating Jiyeon (T-ara) after working together in the drama  I Wanna Hear Your Song. However, the management companies of the two artists have denied it.

According to Allkpop, EDAM Entertainment – IU’s management company, has been taking legal measures for the past two years (2023 – 2024). They have coordinated with a law firm to collect evidence related to malicious posts aimed at IU and have officially filed a lawsuit.

They focus on serious cases that meet the criteria for criminal prosecution, including: threats, insults, defamation (including plagiarism), death threats, invasion of privacy, sexual harassment, distribution of pornography, and creation and distribution of deepfake content. To date, more than 180 individuals have been identified as potential targets for lawsuits.

“National sister” sued 180 people.

“We will continue to take additional legal action,” the company representative stressed, indicating that the process is still ongoing.

As a result, 6 cases have been fined, 3 cases have been exempted from prosecution on condition of completing compulsory education courses and 1 case has been exempted from prosecution on condition of being supervised.

EDAM Entertainment stressed,  “We only select the most serious violations and are pursuing criminal charges, with no tolerance,” and warned that repeated violations could result in increased penalties.

IU and her fans have suffered a lot due to false information, slander, and defamation online. Therefore, they will react strongly to put an end to this situation.
