Taylor Swift returned to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday to watch the Chiefs – and she sat away from Brittany Mahomes for the second straight week.
Swift and Mahomes have developed a close bond through their respective relationships with Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, but have publicly supported different presidential candidates of late, with Mahomes herself liking a Donald Trump social media post and Swift endorsing Kamala Harris.
And while the friends were seen back together at last weekend’s US Open, they sat apart for the second straight week on Sunday as Swift was seen without Mahomes in her suite.
Swift arrived at Arrowhead Stadium earlier today – making a stylish entrance in a long Chiefs t-shirt, knee-high black boots and gold jewelry, as seen in footage posted on X by KSHB’s Aaron Ladd.
Alongside her for the game was mother Andrea, her brother Austin, and singer Danielle Haim.
Swift was already a fixture in the Sunday news cycle – and not for any reason of her own.
She was a subject of national discussion again after former President Donald Trump posted ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT’ in all-capital letters on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Swift recently publicly endorsed Kamala Harris’ bid for president – an action that drove a reported 338,000 visits to Vote.gov, a federal voter registration website that the ‘Fortnight’ singer linked to in her endorsement post on Instagram.
This was not the first time that Trump criticized the pop superstar this week, saying that he likes ‘Mrs. Mahomes much better’.
That’s a reference to Brittany Mahomes – the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes – who recently voiced support for Trump’s 20-point platform by ‘liking’ one of his campaign’s Instagram posts.
Brittany has since been praised and criticized by conservatives and liberals respectively over her support for the 45th President.
The lingering question on Sunday was whether political differences would prevent Swift and Brittany from reuniting at Arrowhead Stadium.
In Week 1’s NFL opener, Swift was in a luxury box alongside Chariah Gordon, the fiancée of Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman. Notably absent from Swift’s box was Brittany Mahomes.
That helped fuel speculation that there may be a rift between the two because of political differences.
But, as Daily Mail sources said after the first game of the season, there’s no bad blood between the two.
The pair had been spotted out at a swanky Kansas City cocktail bar after the first game of the 2024 season, celebrating the start of another NFL campaign.
Swift and Mahomes were also spotted together enjoying the men’s singles final at the US Open last Sunday.
As Taylor Fritz was defeated by Jannik Sinner, Brittany and Taylor were seen warmly embracing while the drinks flowed in their suite (not including Brittany, who is pregnant).
The couples both looked to be in good spirits as the suite sipped on champagne.
The group, minus Brittany, ordered two bottles of Rosé Champagne Moët et Chandon and two bottles of Champagne Impérial Moët et Chandon, sources close to Travis told The US Sun.
Afterwards, they enjoyed a double date in New York City as both couples arrived hand-in-hand at Meduza Mediterrania.
But since then, Swift has fully endorsed Harris – whereas before, it was only rumored.
Brittany has also been subject to some pretty brutal trolling from fans of Swift’s in recent days since the endorsement.
But a source exclusively told DailyMail.com that they ‘respect that they have different views’ and have made a ‘pact’ to avoid discussing politics last month.
It remains to be seen if the friends will be seen together off the field.
On the field, it should be a tight battle – with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce expected to play starring roles.
Last week, with Swift in attendance, the Chiefs were able to beat the Baltimore Ravens, despite the Mahomes-Kelce connection not being at its strongest.
Kelce caught three of his four targets for only 34 yards as he finished the night as the fourth-best receiver on Kansas City.
He’ll hope to bounce back against a Cincinnati team that was stunned at home in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.
