"Update: Chiefs Rookie Suffers Major Injury Ahead of Week 4 Game, Raising Concerns"

Rookie tight end Baylor Cupp suffered an injury and was placed on practice squad injured list.

Aug 17, 2024; Kansas City, Missouri, USA; Kansas City Chiefs tight end Baylor Cupp (47) warms up against the Detroit Lions prior to the game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Kansas City Chiefs are trying to move to 4-0 this week as they prepare to play the Los Angeles Chargers at So-Fi Stadium.

Unlike most teams across the league, the Chiefs don’t have a ton of notable injuries to worry about heading into their Week 4 AFC West clash. However, Kansas City reportedly had one of their players on the practice squad get injured, leading to the Chiefs signing a familiar face to fill the roster spot.

According to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, the Chiefs placed rookie tight end Baylor Cupp on the practice squad injured list. As with the regular injured reserve list, practice squad players who go to the injured list will also miss four games.

To take Cupp’s spot on Kansas City’s 17-man practice squad, . Fortson was cut last month by the Miami Dolphins ahead of the roster cutdown deadline. The Chiefs also have an open spot on the 53-man roster.

The former Texas Tech tight end was signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft. Cupp had a tough road to make the Chiefs’ 53-man roster because of the talent at the tight end spot.

In his last season at Texas Tech, Cupp had 11 receptions for 114 yards and two touchdowns. If the Chiefs suffered an injury at tight end in the near future, the team could sign Fortson or Peyton Hendershot off the practice squad.
