On March 14th, the Gary Sinise Foundation was thrilled to host our 26th Invincible Spirit Festival at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX! Before the festivities could begin, GSF Staff and the Lt. Dan Band had a little surprise for our pal Gary.
But what is an Invincible Spirit Festival? Simply put, it is a celebration of the Invincible Spirit of our wounded heroes, their families, and those who care for them.
For over two decades, Gary has spent time with our wounded service members in military hospitals all over the world. Recovery is slow and arduous. Life revolves around the next surgery, the next appointment, the next procedure. Days in the hospital run together as the service member and their team of medical staff work tirelessly through the rehabilitation process.
For families of wounded, the hospital becomes their second home. They fight alongside their hero offering comfort and strength and reassurance.
It is for these heroes that Gary created our Invincible Spirit Festivals.
Outside the hospital, the festival is underway! Before stepping on stage, Gary met with the group of Soldiers and Airmen from Brooke Army Medical Center who had volunteered to help set up the tables, tents, and stage.
Meanwhile, our friends at H-E-B provided free meals and ice cream to the over 4,000 patients, families, and hospital staff of Brooke Army Medical Center in attendance.
When Gary & The Lt. Dan Band took the stage, the joy was infectious. We were thrilled to see so many staff and patients in the crowd getting a respite from the rigors of recovery.
On behalf of Gary and all of us at the Gary Sinise Foundation, we would like to send our warm thanks to the following sponsors of our Invincible Spirit Festival. Thanks to our presenting sponsor, American Airlines, and our corporate partners H-E-B and Simple Green. And a special thanks to our host, Brooke Army Medical Center.
